NATIONAL DAY ON WRITING 2020

October 20th, 2020 is National Day on Writing, a day to explore, celebrate, and highlight how writing helps us communicate, work with each other, support 0ur learning, and remember.

The BGSU University Writing Program believes that words change worlds. To celebrate National Day on Writing, students and faculty were invited to participate in a variety of ways:

Digital Literacy Narratives

Description: 1-2 minute audio and video clips describing folx’ diverse literacy experiences. Transcripts and/or closed captioning included.

Questions explored in Digital Literacy Narratives:

  • How did you learn to write/ read? 
  • What challenges (social, racial, educational, developmental, language/learning, etc.) did you face? How did you overcome these challenges?
  • What do you write? For school? For work? For fun? Why?
  • What do you enjoy about writing? 
  • What do you find challenging about writing and how did you learn to overcome these challenges? Describe benefits of learning how to write well for your writing situation.
  • How do you use writing to enact change?

2020 National Day on Writing® In Conversation with Jacqueline Woodson
