Dear Alumni and Friends,
“It’s good to be home!” The theme of Homecoming 2019 was a sentiment expressed on the faces of the alumni, students and faculty I saw on campus during this year’s homecoming festivities. Whether graduation was a few decades ago or only a few years back, BGSU remains a place to call home.
This newsletter highlights the achievements of a few people who call BGSU homeā¦ outstanding alumni who built the foundation for their careers here in Bowling Green; current students and faculty who strive to make a difference through research and artistic expression; and two Falcon Flames who are giving back to their alma mater.
I am always interested in hearing about the successes of our alumni. Send an email to artsandsciences@bgsu.edu to share how your BGSU education has enabled you to contribute to the public good.
If you were unable to attend Homecoming, I encourage you to come back to campus for a visit. We will be here to welcome you home!
Warm regards,
Raymond Craig

A serendipitous inspiration of undergraduate research
Sometimes classroom questions are easy to answer. Sometimes you have to dig a little deeper. This is a lesson Dr. Andrew Schocket, BGSU professor of history and American culture studies, and his students learned from a question regarding the importance of including women in the 1790 U.S. Census to determine state congressional districts.

The 2019 Common Read, “What the Eyes Don’t See,” by Mona Hanna-Attisha, is a firsthand account of the Flint water crisis. This fall at BGSU, the water quality issue is crossing the boundaries of literature, science, and art.
